Even though I'm no longer in Seattle...

Fucking figure it out, folks!

Now, the Seattle mayor and the WA State Governor are withdrawing support for the monorail project?

Granted, I was never a supporter of an expanded monorail, but at this late stage in the game, it's just another assinine move to withdraw support and doom the project to failure. Thus in turn, leaving Seattle as we move into 2006 with no other mass transit system beyond the Metro bus line.

Geezus... It's shit like that that costs WA State big business opportunities.

The monorail project has the right of way already secured from West Seattle to Ballard. Wouldn't it make sense to go ahead to suck it up and fund the fricking project???

Of course, in the same breath... Washington State residents have to be the tightest bastards in the 50 contiguous States. They don't pay income tax; they're sales tax is right up there with other states who DO pay income tax, and here they are again trying to repeal another tax... the gas tax.

I have an idea... Why don't all of the soccer moms on the East Side and the Microsoft Millionaires get rid of their fucking SUVs, and let Washington State keep the fucking gas tax?!?!?!

Pay your dues, let Seattle build a mass-transit system, and shut the fuck up.

OY! I haven't lived there since 06/21/02 and those politically-correct fuckwits still piss me off!

  1. This came up during a visit last night. "I can WAIT to vote on the monorail again!" said our hostess, in a wickedly sarcastic manner.

Here's the thing. The Mayor and the Gov DON'T HAVE TO SUPPORT THE PROJECT. The people of Seattle voted FOUR times, count them FOUR, to build the monorail. What the Mayor and the Gov need to do is lock the committee in a room, tell the the planned restrictions, and not let them out until the present a doable plan. The committee, for who I have no love lost, is no red cheeked innocent either, I'm sick of them behaving like they're on a gov't funded junket to the city by the sound, squandering resources on study after study. Meanwhile, there's a construction mess all over town while the light rail project gets underway.

    STFU and build. Hallelujah.
