BTK... Blah, Blah, Blah...

The media coverage of the BTK serial killer's sentencing is daunting. While I have sympathy and empathy for the victims' families, I couldn't help but think, "Dennis Rader killed ten people. George W. Bush, Jr. has killed tens of thousands of people, and I don't see a court of law holding him accountable."

Oh, yeah... Those people who voted for Shrub gave him the right to murder innocent men, women, and children all over the world.

Where is the moral outrage?

Might I suggest that we use the remaining three years of Shrub's presidency and make him sit through Victim Impact Statements 12 hours a day, 7 days a week...

Maybe Shrub and potential future presidents will think twice about engaging the US in a "preemptive" war that has no sound justification.

  1. I don't do moral equivelencies, it just leads to craziness. Intentional evil vs. sacrifices to "Democracy"? ARGH! I don't even want to THINK about it! ARGH! You can't make me! LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!

I DO like the idea that one should be made aware of the consequences of their actions. Cindy Sheehan has been trying to issue a Victim Impact Statement directly to the man for some time now. I say yes to THAT.

  2. "Before Sheehan left Crawford, Texas, on Thursday, Bush explained to reporters that he needs to get on with his life..."

Obviously, Shrub just flat doesn't get it! He's getting on with HIS life?!?!?!?

Uhm... What about those who have lost love ones in this "war," and what about those who have had loved ones come back maimed for life?

I do do moral equivalencies. Isn't that how our democracy works? Isn't that how SCOTUS makes its determinations? What's good for one segment of our democratic society should also be good for another segment of the same democratic society...

    "Equal protection under the law..."

  3. Much hay has been made over that "get on with my life" comment from W over here. People can't believe he said it! It not only shows insensitivity, but total stupidity. They almost feel bad for him for being such a clod.

I had Celebrity Millionaire on the other day, and I heard them pondering a question about how many North American colonies declared independence in 1776. First they wished they were Tony Blair...he could use a lifeline to phone W, who would tell him the answer. Then they said, "NO! W actually wouldn't know..."North America....now where is that exactly? (said with a W impression.)" "

    man, he SUCKS.
